The definition of great!

Greatness is being redefined every day, every month, every year.

Normal is being reset, every day, every month, every year…

What was great yesterday, is good today.
What is good today, is normal tomorrow.

365 days later that same norm is now outdated and sometimes broken.

In 2011, world records were established that seemed hard to conceive before they were achieved.

These records stand for now. We stand and stare in awe at the remarkable achievements.

But, these records stand, only to be broken.
They will be broken!

In 2008, Usain Bolt broke the current world record for the 100 meter dash and became the fastest man on earth.  In 2009, Usain Bolt broke his own record in the 100 meter dash, making the prior year’s accomplishment good because he redefined great.

As long as Bolt continues to redefine the possibilities of human speed he will be the greatest.

When he stops, his records will be at risk.

Because somewhere, a young man is inspired by what Bolt has achieved.  He knows and understands what is now possible.

He believes he can do better.

That unknown young man is training today to redefine what is great tomorrow!

One day, Bolt, the fastest man on earth will be beat.

What he has done will be redefined.

What are you doing to reset the bar and redefine your possibilities?
How provocative are your goals?
How high are the standards you’ve set for yourself?

Are you just average, doing average work?

If you are average, and your only doing average things, you’ll be outdated, maybe even replaced a year from now.

If you’re good…great!

But please note that a change in expectations could make your good performance the norm tomorrow.

If you were great yesterday, are you still great today?
If so, what are you doing to be great tomorrow?

With the impending close of 2011, many of us will be reflecting and assessing ourselves and our performance over this past year. Then we’ll start setting new goals for 2012.

Aim high…

“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.” ~ Mohandas Gandhi

Reset the bar…
Get creative!
Stretch and dream!

Remember, what got you here, won’t get you there.

Destroy normal and average in your life by pushing for great!
Stay inspired, it’s a lifestyle choice!
