4 Life Lessons I’ve Learned!

This past week, my life coach and I had what is called a “Completion Conversation”, in ontological coaching, for 2013. The purpose of this conversation was to ensure I am at peace with 2013, to ensure I am fully present and focused in 2014.

As a result of our conversation, I gathered four notable reflections on my personal development in 2013. After reviewing my reflections, I felt it would be a sin to keep them to myself. Thus, I’ve decided to share these four reflections with all of you.

1. You only get out, what you put in…

Like most of you, I’ve heard this cliche saying hundreds of times, but the challenges of 2013 had a way of really making this universal truth, crystal clear.

I call this a universal truth, because this saying holds true for everything in life.

Just pick a category and tell me where this isn’t true?

Consider the following:

  • Education
  • Career
  • Relationships
  • Performances
  • Perceptions
  • The Bank

The list could go on and on and this principle would stand true. I’ve found a few holes in this principle, but they are plugged by other laws. For instance, if you rob a bank, this principle could be broken, because you can get out much more than you put in. However, there’s another law that plugs this hole, making you a bank robber and an outlaw! :0)

You only get out, what you put in!
If you want the most from life, you’re gonna have to put your all into it!

2. The impact one decision can have on your entire life is daunting.

Decision MakingThe everyday decisions we make, can seem simple and mindless. Decisions on where we choose to go, what we choose to eat, who we decide to tweet, etc.

We make decisions with such ease, that we often forget how monumental these decision can be.

The decision to stay home today could keep your life on the same track…for better or for worse.

Leaving home today could shift your life onto a completely different track…for better or for worse.

I’m not sharing this to create fear.
I’m sharing this to create awareness.
Awareness is the impetus of change.

“It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” ~ Tony Robbins

In 2014, what criteria will you use to make your decisions?

3. As humans, we have no clue of our own capabilities.

In 2013, dreams materialized and goals were accomplished that I could not fathom achieving at the beginning of that year.

Some of my dreams seemed to be just that…DREAMS!
I set audacious goals, that given my timelines seemed impossible.

Yet, I meditated on those dreams and wrote those impossible goals on paper, then set my mind to their accomplishment. Twelve months later, not only do I see that these dreams and goals were possible, I’m doing quite a fine job of maintaining the impossibilities!

We have all been created for greatness!
Let your light shine!
Set audacious goals, then go accomplish them.

We often have no clue of our own capabilities.
So what are you capable of?

4. There is nothing more fulfilling and beautiful than love and the full expression of that love!

Nat King Cole
 sang it…
“The greatest thing you ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”

Love IsFor those of us who preach and teach love, the toughest task we face is learning how to accept love.

Last year, I learned to accept LOVE in it’s raw, unfiltered form.

Yeah, 2013 softened me up a bit.
I needed it.

It would be difficult to serve in the capacities in which I serve, and continue to excel, without the wondrous miracle of love living inside my very BEING. In order for this gift to manifest in my life I had to concede control and become vulnerable.

While scary, it was worth the trepidation.
Now I can exude LOVE as a powerful part of my ESSENCE.

These four lessons marked a great deal of my development in 2013.

What marked yours?

…and stay inspired, it’s a lifestyle choice!
