Are You Afraid To Commit To Success?

A couple of weeks ago I shared a post titled, “Why New Year’s Resolutions/Plans Fail.”

In this post, I explained, how unexpected resistance is the catalyst that causes many of us to abandon our resolutions and plans.

Saturday evening, I shared my thoughts about this post on the Inspirational Perspective radio show and after the show, as I drove home, I had an epiphany.

Resistance is not the only reason we abandon our resolutions and goals.
It’s deeper than that…

comitted - TRWe quit, because we are not committed.

Commitment is the integral ingredient that fuels our ability to push through resistance and consistently persevere.

Persistence cannot exist without the presence of a deep-rooted commitment.

True commitment facilitates a dedication and devotion in the ideal or consequence of our plans.

For example, we abandon our fitness goals, because we haven’t linked working-out to a commitment for the long-term health of our body and mind.

This week, my question for reflection is:

  • To what are you truly committed?
  • Are your resolutions and goals linked to your commitments?

As humans, we are really good at sniffing out frauds. We have ways of perceiving who’s committed to something and who’s not. Unfortunately, we’re better at fooling ourselves, than we are others.

decide.commit.succeedThus, if you have a hard time identifying what you’re committed to, ask your family and friends. They’ll be able to tell you.

Now here the kicker…
If your family and friends cannot identify something to which you’re committed, it might just be that you’re not committed to anything.

…and that’s not okay!
To be fulfilled and live the best life possible, you must be committed to something!

To what are you truly committed?
What are you committed to accomplishing in 2014?

I’d love to know. Share your commitments in a comment here on the blog, in a tweet or status update on the Inspirational Perspective Facebook page.

This year, let’s all be committed and stay inspired, it’s a wonderful lifestyle choice!
