SIRENS!

Growing up and living in a large metropolitan city, can make anyone take the sound of a siren for granted.

In a big city…
It’s a common occurrence to hear police sirens.
It’s a common occurrence to hear fire truck sirens.
It’s a common occurrence to hear ambulance sirens.

These sirens interrupt our sleep.
These sirens interrupt our conference calls.
These sirens interrupt meetings with important clients.
These sirens cause transactions to pause.

But, why?

Is it because they’re loud?
Is it because we’re driving and it’s simply the law?

Or is it because…
We know it’s a call for help?
We know a fellow human…a partner in this life…is in distress?
We know a brother or sister close by is in need of someone to save their life?

Or is it because…
We’re thankful for our health?
We’re grateful for our safety and the safekeeping of those we love?

Growing up and living in a large metropolitan city, can make anyone take the sound of a siren for granted.

…but maybe it’s time that the sound of sirens cause us to pause.

Maybe it’s time that the sound of a siren reminds us to be grateful.
Maybe it’s time that the sound of a siren reminds us to express love to those we love most.

Sometimes we have to be reminded to express gratitude.
Make sirens your queue for gratitude, especially if those sirens aren’t coming for you.

Stay grateful…
…and stay inspired, it’s a lifestyle choice.

p.s.
It’s interesting how we can call for help, later to hear the sounds of sirens, and see flashing lights.
At that moment, we don’t care if the angel sent to help us, is red, yellow, black or white.
What if we accepted others with that same openness, everyday, in all aspects of our lives?
