(I’m assuming you already read the title.)
So…would you really bet on yourself?
If you think you would…trust your instincts and take a risk and read this whole post.
I dare you to focus on what you are about to read and lose your addiction to getting distracted!
I’m not asking whether you would bet on yourself or not, to be facetious. It’s a serious question.
As a professional certified ontological life coach, I’m continually blown away by how many people continually pass up the opportunity to fully invest themselves.
They’ll tell you they want to live the best life possible, but in the end…they won’t put their money where their mouth is.
It’s just talk. Their actions don’t back up what they spend so much time talking about.
The old cliche…actions are louder than words..always holds true!
So back to the original question, “Would you REALLY bet on YOURSELF?“
Meaning…you would actually invest money and time into yourself, because you know there will be a return on investment (ROI).
Last year, I spent well over $25,000 dollars on self-development in the following areas:
- Travel to and from the above locations
- Mastermind Groups
I’m sure I missed a few.
You get the point.
I make it a point to invest in my development.
I make it a point to invest in my wife’s development.
Notice I didn’t say bet.
I said invest.
That’s because I expect a ROI.
Do you expect an ROI on the self-development investments you make?
Take a moment…
Take a real hard look.
Do you REALLY expect a ROI on the self-development investments you make?
A good way to get to the answer of this question is to get clear on the last time you actually made a legitimate investment of time and money in yourself.
So when was the last time?
How much time and money did you spend?
Did you see a ROI? (Tell us about it in a comment.)
…or was it more of a bet.
You did lay down a few dollars, but the cards didn’t fall in your favor…the dice didn’t land on your numbers!
Meaning…you didn’t take action on what you learned.
…or for whatever reasons…you got stopped…you got scared!
…and it felt like you lost twice.
You lost your time and your money.
So now what?
Where’s your fight?
Where’s that fire to live the best life?
If not now…when are you going to bet on yourself?
No…better yet…when are you going to invest in yourself?
This week, my wife and I are headed to San Diego, California for Brendon Burchard’s High Performance Academy. San Diego is nice, but this is business. We’re making an investment.
We’ll attend everyday we’re there from the beginning of the day, until the end.
We’re committed to getting our ROI.
Throughout my corporate and professional journey the companies I worked for invested in my leadership. I attended countless conferences, seminars and educational workshops because these companies were willing to invest in me.
Over the years as an entrepreneur, I’ve taken the business lesson of self-development I learned in Corporate America and applied it to my personal endeavors.
The ROI on all of that is what you see today in Linal Harris, what you’re reading in this post, what you hear on the radio every Saturday evening on WVON 1690 AM at 10 PM CST, what you learned in my last workshop, what you’ve read on this blog.
It’s not magic.
It’s not super special and different.
It’s just an investment that is yielding an ROI.
If you’re not already doing this.
You could do it too!
Demand of yourself a passion for learning!
Demand of yourself a passion and discipline to invest in that learning!
Learn what you need to learn to propel yourself into the direction of your dreams.
Learn what you need to learn to be on purpose in your life!
If you want to live the best life possible, make a commitment to invest in making it possible!
You want to be successful?
You want to reach your potential?
You don’t have to hire me or come to my workshops!
I’m not telling you to go to Brendon Burchard’s seminars.
What I’m telling you is to invest!
Start investing your time and money somewhere you can hold yourself accountable to getting that ROI!
I don’t know about you…but I’m going to continue betting on (investing in) me!
