Beginnings…

This weekend a friend of mine got married.  He asked me to stand up in his wedding and to present the opening toast for the couple at their reception.  It was a privilege and an honor to do both.

This week’s thought contains excerpts from that toast.
Congratulations Victor and Becca!

There is no greater prospect than that of a new beginning.

Think about the beginning of any exciting opportunity or adventure upon which any of us have embarked…

That beginning created within us an anticipation and excitement, along with an optimistic uncertainty that we don’t experience everyday.

Thus we celebrate these beginnings
Beginnings like a new job…or a school year
A New Year
The blessing of an additional birthday…
A wedding…

There are a number of different occasions that explicitly mark a beginning and each of these beginnings mark a special time in our lives.  These occasions give us the opportunity to create a clean canvas on which to paint the story of our life.

A clean canvas is the same gift that was given to Picasso, Da Vinci and Van Gogh
A clean canvas is the same gift that was given to Bach, Mozart and Beethoven
We all are given this gift too…

How we capitalize on our beginnings will be the differentiator on whether our canvas will be filled with the brilliance and beauty of Picasso, Da Vinci and Van Gogh and with a rhythm and harmony that exceeds the tones of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.

In this life we are only given a finite number of beginnings and they mark the opportunity and promise of a new canvas for each of us.

When the canvas is clean…what will you do?
Hopefully you’ll start creating the masterpiece of your life!

Just watched a Tony Robbins video about making new commitments and beginnings. Your messages overlap nicely, letting us know we can start a new beginning at any time with the right state of mind.

Fantastic website. A lot of useful information here. I’m sending it to a few pals and also sharing a few of the post. And naturally, thank you for your sweat and hard work!
