I am often shocked and baffled, when I encounter friends and colleagues who are passionate about being green, saving the earth and fighting global warming, but don’t place the same importance on their personal space.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all about being green and recycling.
I recycle fanatically. (…and when I can afford a Tesla, I’ll buy one.)
I believe we need to care for the earth. She is hurting.
I believe we are experiencing global warming. The recent weather anomalies and catastrophes continue to send us warnings.
So yes, we should be passionate about these things, but my number one priority isn’t the earth right now. It’s us, the inhabitants.
How can we love the earth?
How do we restore the earth?
How do we nourish the earth?
How do we love, restore and nourish the earth, when we don’t know how to love, restore and nourish ourselves?
In my opinion, the answer lies in our minds, with our thoughts. Our thoughts are generated largely by our environments, so that’s why I believe our environment is the perfect place to start this conversation.
Thus, my question for reflection and action this week is:
Does your space (meaning your home, your work, your room, whatever and wherever you have complete creative control) reflect the positive messages you desire to think?
We’ve all heard the cliché terminology that people are a product of their environments.
Most of us believe this.
So, if that is the case, what does your environment say ABOUT you?
But, more importantly, what does your environment say TO you?
Does it speak love, joy, gratitude, peace, hope and inspiration into your thoughts and into your life?
Or…
Does it speak weakness, guilt, shame, inferiority, need and defeat into your thoughts and into your life?
I’m urging you to take a look!
Look at your music.
Look at your pictures.
Look at your art.
Look at your favorite television shows with this lens.
Observe everything in your space.
What does it represent?
What is the intent?
What does it make you THINK?
Whatever your environment is saying to you will impact the way that you think.
How you think will impact the way that you live your life.
Your environment and the effect it has to your thoughts is compelling.
In 2005, Dr. Masaru Emoto released a book called, “The Hidden Messages in Water”. In short, the book discusses the powerful impact that the vibrations of thoughts, music, video and words spoken and typed have on crystallized water.
Here is a three-minute video link that illustrates his research. In this video, Dr. Emoto exposes crystallized water to positive and negative things, thoughts and words. Take a look at the results:
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAvzsjcBtx8]
Did you see the beauty and symmetry the crystallized water expressed when exposed to positivity?
Did you see the distortion and chaos the crystallized water expressed when exposed to negativity?
This video is even more sobering when you consider that the adult human body is about 50 to 65 percent water. Also, an adult human brain is 70 percent water and a child’s body is approximately 75 percent water.
If thoughts can manipulate water, and we as humans are mostly composed of water, what impact is our thoughts having on us?
What impact is our thoughts having on our children?
I’ll leave you to decide for yourself.
As for me…I’m going to err on the side of caution and continue to create an environment that produces thoughts of love, joy, gratitude, peace, hope and inspiration into my life!
I will post my favorite motivational quotes on the fridge and all over my house.
I will listen to music that inspires me to reach for my dreams.
I will surround myself with positive people who are aspiring to reach their dreams.
I will keep the words love, peace and happiness posted near my threshold.
Why roll the dice on the possibility Dr. Emoto is wrong? Besides, thinking positive thoughts just seems to be more fun.
What will you decide?

Interesting post that leads me to question how the people we surround ourselves with trebles negatively or positively the environments we select for ourselves.
