Since the dawn of our nation, over 1.3 million Americans have lost their lives in combat, defending and protecting our ability to exercise our “unalienable Rights; among which are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”.
If you combine the total above with the number of soldiers that were wounded in battle, that already large figure jumps to over 2.7 million men and women, who made the ultimate sacrifice, so we can live in comfort and security.
Memorial Day offers those of us who benefit from their sacrifice, an opportunity to honor and remember, all those we have lost.
Below, I have outlined a few ways we can honor our fallen heroes:
- During your home or work events this week, take 30 to 60 seconds of silence, to remember our fallen heroes.
- Read the Declaration of Independence
- Read the Constitution
- Read the Bill of Rights
I suppose, the very least that we owe those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf, is the decency and respect to read, understand and know the documents of freedom, these soldiers defended.
The better we understand our rights, the less likely we are to accept any breach or compromise of those rights, in the future!
Stay inspired and have a happy and safe Memorial Day!
