What if life had a user’s manual?

What’s your relationship with user guides and instruction manuals?

Who understands the manual anyway?
Who understands the manual anyway?

Do you read them?

If you’re anything like me, you get so excited about your new toys, that the user manual is typically tossed to the side.

Recently, I was at a friend’s home and they had just installed a brand new, state of the art home theater system. Throughout the evening I noticed my friend going to this new system, to adjust the volume or change songs. Eventually, I got curious and asked, “Why don’t you just control your stereo system with your iPhone?”

“You can do that?” was the reply.
“Did you read your user’s manual?” I asked.

(Insert blank stare here…)

Within two minutes, I connected his phone to the stereo system and he was delighted.

This got me to wondering:

  • How often do we make large investments, but miss many of the benefits of those investments?
  • How much time, comfort and money have we wasted simply because we refuse to take the time to educate ourselves on our CURRENT options?

I believe this happens to all of us more than we would like to admit.

When was the last time you read a user’s manual for a large purchase or investment you’ve made?

One of the most important investments you can make, is in yourself.
Do you have a user’s manual for your life?

It may be time to read life's instruction manuals.
It may be time to read life’s instruction manuals.

There is so much wisdom about living life, in the pages of many books.

Some may choose religious scripture, others may choose academic journals; regardless of your choice, are you reading, comprehending and learning everyday?

Are you taking the time to educate yourself on your CURRENT options?

Funny, how we all wonder why we struggle at this thing called life, when the answers to that struggle lies vividly in front of us.

The answer: Our own behavior.

“Behavior is the mirror in which everyone shows their image.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

What’s your behavior telling you about your self-development and education?

It might be time we all take a moment or two to look at user guides and instruction manuals. Especially the manuals that help us live life.

Keep your manuals close and stay inspired, it’s a lifestyle choice!
